If you didn't take the time to do any quests or explore the map, you would never see any material crafters.

www.guildwiki.org I have no clue on where they are, or what they make, but it's pretty easy to look up from Wiki...

Did no-one notice the ups and downs in the traders?

Haven't sold parchment in a while, but then, I'm too lazy to advertise. Merchant prices are varying between 70g and 50g for parchment and used to be between 80 and 70g, hardly ever seen it at 90g, but have once or twice quite a while ago.

Steel is hovering between 50g and 100g at the merchant, Linen between 100g and 70 or 60. Ecto is between 8.5 and 7.5, so that's come down heaps.

Soo... I'm guessing that parchment might not be profitable atm, however, there is every chance that it will be again in the not-so-distant future.

If you aren't looking for massive profits and want to make money at ANY level...

1. Go to Piken Square.
2. Go out the door.
3. Go to the valley to the south.
4. Kill the 20+ Charr there in about 5-10 minutes.
5. You should get four charr hides on each run.
6. Go to Ascalon City, trade the hides in at the collector for a fur square, and sell the fur square to the merchant for 200-250g.

In about 30 minutes, you have 1K. And anyone can do it, even if you are below level 15.

yeah, parchment is REALLY cheap...its not even worth selling it to people considering EVERYONE is selling it...the price drop is probably due to me, as I have had stacks of parchment that I just sold to the trader (about 1250 parch)

I found the basic materials worth salvaging and crafting into rare materials are Wood, Plant Fibers, Iron, and Glittering Dust.
Salvaged Wood can be crafted into Parchment for profit. If you also have Glittering Dust, then craft Vellum instead for bigger profits.

Plant Fibers can be crafted into Damask with Glittering Dust. If you have more Dust than Fibers then you can craft Glass and then craft Ink. Ink sells at a greater profit than Damask if you sell exclusively to the Trader.

Iron, with Dust and Charcoal, can be turned into Deldrimor Steel. You can even buy the Charcoal from the trader and still turn a profit.

Glittering Dust isn't used alone. It is combined with other materials (see above) to make them worth more.
If you have a bit of everything, then Ink > Damask > Deldrimor Steel > Vellum > Parchment (last time I checked).

The following materials are usually not worth crafting for (NPC) trade:
Charcoal
Linen
Leather Square
Elonian Leather (bordeline - sometimes it's profitable)
Spiritwood
Steel
Glass (unless you plan to turn it into ink)
You can make a little extra gold crafting and trading materials. My calculations were based solely on typical material trader prices. If you trade with players you should be able to improve your profits. I also urge you not to trust my week-old calculations and make your own analysis.

Parchment selling sucks now because more and more people found out about it.

I discovered it many months ago, when I was looking to craft some normal Steel and remembered there was a crafter right outside Sardelac Sanitarium that is probably the easiest to get to in the game. In fact, getting the material and crafting normal steel together actually costs a large amount more than buying it, which seems pretty pointless. Anyway, I saw you could craft parchment for a mere 20g, and 5 wood. 5 wood I figured would cost 50g when bought from others. I immediately ported to Droknars and checked the price of parchment at the trader. Something 150+. So I figured I could sell it for 100g to a player, making a profit of 30g every piece. I started buying wood in mass and making parchment, then selling it. It took up a fair amount of time but back then I was a noob with no money and didn't know how to farm so it was appealing to me. Also, it was easier to find buyers because there were pretty much never any others selling parchment at the same time as me.

I told others in my guild and they tried it, but they weren't so nooby as me so they thought it was too time-consuming for the small amount made. I continued, and also looked around for other things to make profit on. You can do pretty much the same thing with Leather Squares (at the crafter outside Sardelac). It costs 50g to craft and you need 5 tanned hide (about 50g too)=100g. Price at trader is something like 180g so you can sell for about 130g, 30g profit. Vellum (has already been mentioned) which I think is easiest to get by running to the crafter in Talus Chute, can actually make a bigger profit, but of course there are not so many people buying it but for a few monks and necros who want that particular 15k armour. Parchment is commonly required by monks wanting more energy so opting for 1.5k tattoos (for whatever purpose) and also necros wanting scar patterns, so you can often find buyers. Another one is Deldrimor Steel - a few months ago I was checking out crafters. I wanted to make Deldrimor Steel and eventually found the crafter in Talus Chute where it can be made (ran there). Buying the materials + crafting it (Deld Steel) is far cheaper than buying it, therefore making it possible to craft + sell for a profit also (a very big one in fact - though of course there aren't that many buyers and you need to buy several materials which could take a while). As far as I remember there were a few other things too.
Anyway, I sold parchment for quite a while. I was spending 10s of thousands eventually (buying wood) and then spending hours selling all of the parchment to make 10s more thousands. I reached something like 60k before I stopped. I stopped because there were others doing it at the same time as me and people were actually starting to sell it for 10-15g lower...aahh!
Now, I laugh when I visit Droknars. There are nearly always one or two people there selling parchment. I guess parchment selling might be a lot more profitable if you actually farm the wood, something I never did. Also, the price can reach as low as 75g for parchment on the streets these days, due to competition. And a few people seem to have discovered Vellum. I'm surprised I never see anyone selling Leather Squares. Perhaps its because tanned hide is harder to get?
My overall view: this whole thing as a money-making method sucks. Parchment is a waste of time for the money you could make in that time farming (well, unless you can't farm). For me it really only serves for when I have so much wood I can make parchment and sell it for more than I would get for selling the wood. There are too many people doing it now for it to be of any worth as a 'business'. Also, the other materials do get more money but require more time as you can't find as many buyers and they need more materials.
(-end of essay-)

#1 every one knows this... ppl feed off of it in Droks. At any one time 5 ppl are selling ROP
#2 NO way will u every sell parchment for 100g. As soon as u post that price 50 others are going to post 70-90 its a fact.
#3 this is an easy way to make money with out much WORK and yes if you manage to sell for 100g you make a large sum but you will probly only make about 80g each. So infact you make an ok amnt. of money but not a HUGE amt

I think the reason why there is a lot of spamming in Droks is due to the highest lvl non-15k armor and there a lot of people there at anyone time upgrading there armor. I myself buy from pc traders due to them being cheaper then the materials merchant.

Deldrimore Steel sold for 1K
